Long-term fixed rate bonds used to be the top solution for savers looking to get a decent return on their savings, but unfortunately, times have changed: our latest data can reveal that the average five-year fixed bond rate has fallen to a record low and stands well below 2.00%.

Disappointing news

Savings rates have been plummeting over the last few years, but that downward spiral has ramped up in recent weeks thanks to the base rate cut in August.
